General Information Notice on the Protection and Processing of Personal Data

ESAS PORTFÖY YÖNETİMİ ANONİM ŞİRKETİ (“ESAS PORTFÖY” or the “Company”) places the utmost importance on the security of your personal data. With this awareness, we attach great importance to the processing and preservation of personal data belonging to natural persons with whom the Company interacts, in accordance with the Law No. 6698 on the Protection of Personal Data (the “Law”), secondary legislation enacted or to be enacted pursuant to the Law (regulations, communiqués, circulars), and binding decisions made or to be made by the Personal Data Protection Board.

In full awareness of this responsibility, acting as the “Data Controller” as defined under the Law, we process your personal data within the scope and limitations prescribed by the applicable legislation and as described below.

1. Information on the Data Controller

Pursuant to the Law, ESAS PORTFÖY YÖNETİMİ ANONİM ŞİRKETİ, registered with the Istanbul Trade Registry under registration number 1047122 and MERSIS number 0377101766100001, having its registered office at Esas Plaza, Rüzgarlıbahçe Mah. Çam Pınarı Sk. No:8 İç Kapı No:7, 34805 Beykoz / ISTANBUL, is the Data Controller.

2. Purposes of Processing Personal Data

Your personal data are processed by the Company for the following purposes:

  • Ensuring that the Company’s business units perform the necessary operations in compliance with legislation and corporate policies;
  • Execution of activities aligned with the Company’s short-, medium-, and long-term commercial strategies;
  • Design and execution of human resources policies;
  • Fulfillment of obligations arising from applicable legislation;
  • Management of customer relations and corporate communication processes;
  • Ensuring the commercial and legal security of the Company and of the real and legal persons with whom it has business relations.

Your personal data are processed lawfully, fairly, and in a manner that is relevant, limited, and proportionate to these purposes, in line with the principles and limitations set forth in the Law.

3. Transfer of Personal Data

Within the scope of the above-mentioned purposes and in accordance with Articles 8 and 9 of the Law, your personal data may be transferred to:

  • Public authorities, judicial and administrative bodies legally authorized to receive such data;
  • Private legal or natural persons permitted by applicable legislation;
  • Regulatory and supervisory institutions authorized to audit the Company;
  • Contracted payment service providers for the fulfillment of financial obligations;
  • Business partners and service providers to support and enhance Company operations;
  • And, where necessary, to suppliers—provided that adequate security measures are taken in accordance with the Law.

In case your personal data are transferred to foreign-based entities or stored on servers located abroad, the conditions stated in Article 9 of the Law are strictly observed.

4. Method and Legal Basis of Collecting Personal Data

Your personal data are collected by the Company’s authorized units and employees through automatic, semi-automatic, and non-automatic methods in verbal, written, or electronic formats.

In this context, personal data categories may include: identity, contact, location, employment, legal transaction, customer transaction, physical space security, transaction security, risk management, finance, professional experience, marketing, and visual/audio recordings.

These data are processed based on the legal grounds outlined in Article 5/2 of the Law, such as:

  • Being explicitly provided for by the laws;
  • Being necessary for the establishment or performance of a contract;
  • Fulfillment of legal obligations of the data controller;
  • Data having been made public by the data subject;
  • Necessity for the legitimate interests of the Company, provided it does not harm the fundamental rights and freedoms of the data subject.

5. Rights of Data Subjects Under the Law

According to Article 11 of the Law, you have the following rights regarding your personal data by applying to ESAS PORTFÖY:

  • To learn whether your personal data are processed;
  • If processed, to request information regarding such processing;
  • To learn the purpose of processing and whether they are used in accordance with that purpose;
  • To know the third parties to whom your personal data are transferred domestically or abroad;
  • To request the correction of incomplete or inaccurate data;
  • To request deletion or destruction of your personal data under the conditions stipulated in Article 7 of the Law;
  • To request notification to third parties to whom data have been transferred regarding corrections or deletions;
  • To object to the emergence of a result against you through the analysis of personal data exclusively via automated systems;
  • To claim compensation for damages in case of unlawful processing.

Application Procedures

In accordance with the Communiqué on the Procedures and Principles of Application to the Data Controller, you may submit your requests regarding your rights and the implementation of the Law by:

  • Completing and signing the application form, which you can obtain from our office or from our website;
  • Delivering the form with wet signature in person, via a notary, or registered mail to: Esas Plaza, Rüzgarlıbahçe Mah. Çam Pınarı Sk. No:8 İç Kapı No:7, 34805 Beykoz / ISTANBUL;
  • Or, by filling in the form electronically and signing it with your secure electronic signature, and sending it via your KEP (Registered Electronic Mail) address or the email address already registered in the Company’s system to info@esasportfoy.com.

Your requests will be concluded as soon as possible and at the latest within thirty (30) days depending on the nature of the request. If a written response is required, the first ten (10) pages will be provided free of charge, and a fee of 1 Turkish Lira will be charged per page for each additional page. If the response is provided via a storage medium (CD, flash drive), the cost of such medium will be reflected.

CEO & Portfolio Manager

Mehmet Özkaya serves as the CEO of Esas Portföy Yönetimi A.Ş., the entity responsible for Esas’s asset and wealth management services. Prior to his current role, he served as the Chief Strategy Officer at Esas, responsible for business development, corporate strategy, and strategic asset allocation

Mehmet started his career in the World Bank in Washington, DC where he held various positions in Pension Fund Investments, Capital Markets, Structured Financing, Derivatives, and Risk Management groups (1996-2006). In his last role, he led the Global Fixed Income team in the World Bank Pension Fund, overseeing more than USD 7 billion of investments in global capital markets.

After his return to Turkey, he joined the BNP Paribas – TEB Group as the Chief Investment Officer, first in the TEB Asset Management (2006-2010) and then in the TEB A.Ş (2011-2022).

Mehmet earned his PhD degree in International Finance (1999) and MBA degree in Decision Science (1994) from George Washington University in the United States, and his B.S. degree in Computer Engineering (1992) from Boğaziçi University in Turkey.He also holds Capital Markets Board of Turkey Advanced Level and Derivatives licenses.

Board Member

Bora Subaşı serves as a Board Member responsible for Financial Reporting at Esas Portföy Yönetimi A.Ş.

Since joining Esas in 2012, he has been responsible for the establishment, structural organization, and management of the family office.

With over 13 years of experience in family office management, Bora Subaşı possesses deep expertise in developing short- and long-term investment strategies, planning intergenerational wealth transfer, structuring processes professionally, and managing relationships with family members effectively.

Prior to joining Esas, he worked at HSBC Turkey from 2000 to 2010, where he played an active role in the establishment of HSBC Private Banking Turkey and gained significant experience in private banking. Between 2010 and 2012, he served as Senior Private Banking Manager at Citibank Turkey, where he was responsible for establishing the Private Banking Center in Istanbul.

Bora Subaşı holds a degree in Aeronautical Engineering from Istanbul Technical University and is licensed by the Capital Markets Board of Turkey with both Advanced Level and Derivatives certificates.

Deputy General Manager, Portfolio Management

Özgür Sungu is Deputy General Manager responsible for portfolio management at Esas Portföy Yönetimi A.Ş. He previously served as Portfolio Director in Esas’s Wealth Management team.

Before joining Esas in 2020, he managed multi-asset class funds, hedge funds, and private portfolios at İş Asset Management. From 2006 to 2017, he held various roles managing local and global equities, bonds, and commodities across different mutual and pension fund strategies.

Özgür holds a Master’s degree in Finance from Koç University and a Bachelor’s degree in International Finance from Istanbul Bilgi University. He also holds the CMB Advanced and Derivatives licenses.

Deputy General Manager, Marketing & Business Development

Didem Özkanbaş serves as Deputy General Manager responsible for marketing and business development at Esas Portföy Yönetimi A.Ş. Previously, she was Director of Strategy and Business Development at Esas.

She began her career in 1999 at İşbank’s Treasury Division as a Management Trainee, working in the Turkish Lira Money Market, TL/FX, and TL Bonds for 9 years. In 2008, she joined Akbank’s Private Banking division, later managing the Yeşilköy and Nişantaşı branches over an 11-year period.

Didem holds a degree in Business Administration from Bilkent University and the CMB Advanced and Derivatives licenses.

Senior Director, Research

Füsun Hacıeyüpoğlu is Director of Research at Esas Portföy Yönetimi A.Ş. She previously served in Esas’s Wealth Management team.

She began her career as a project assistant at Arçelik in 1998, later working in various roles at Gedik Yatırım’s International Capital Markets and Research departments (1999–2005). Before joining Esas, she spent 11 years at Deniz Yatırım.

Füsun holds a Master’s degree in Financial Economics from Istanbul Bilgi University and a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering from Yıldız Technical University. She also earned executive education and certifications in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence from the London School of Economics. She holds the CMB Advanced and Derivatives licenses.

Director, Portfolio Management

Duygu Gülçur serves as Director of Portfolio Management at Esas Portföy Yönetimi A.Ş.

She started her career in 2008 at Ashmore Asset Management and later worked in marketing and sales at İş Asset Management and TEB Asset Management.

Duygu holds a degree in Economics from Koç University and holds the CMB Advanced and Derivatives licenses.

Director, Investment Advisory

Duygu Günışık is the Director of Investment Advisory at Esas Portföy Yönetimi A.Ş.

She began her career in 2003 at Citibank and held various Private Banking roles at HSBC, Akbank, and Odeabank.

Duygu earned her undergraduate degree in Economics from Istanbul University and her Master’s in European Union Economics from Galatasaray University. She holds the CMB Advanced and Derivatives licenses and AFP Certified Financial Consultant Level 1 certification.

Senior Manager, Accounting & Operations

Serpil Temurkaynak is Senior Manager of Accounting and Operations at Esas Portföy Yönetimi A.Ş.

She began her career at Yapı Kredi in 2005 and has held client management roles at TEB, Akbank, and Garanti Bank.

Serpil received her bachelor’s degree from Marmara University, Department of Banking and Insurance. She holds the Capital Markets Board Advanced Level and Derivatives licenses.

Manager, Audit & Internal Control

Özlem Kağanoğlu serves as Audit and Internal Control Manager at Esas Portföy Yönetimi A.Ş.

She started her career at TEB in 1995 and has since held internal audit roles at İktisat Bank, Sabancı Holding, Finans Leasing, Deniz Leasing, Emin Group, Pulver Chemicals, and Akiş REIT.

Özlem holds a degree in Business Administration from Istanbul University. She is a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) and Certified Public Accountant (SMMM), and holds the CMB Advanced and Derivatives licenses.

Manager, Risk Management

Alişan Aydoğdu is the Risk Management Manager at Esas Portföy Yönetimi A.Ş.

He began his career in 2014 at Tacirler Investment as an Account Manager in forex markets and has held roles at Başkent Investment, Denizbank, Deniz Asset Management, and Beylerbeyi Asset Management.

Alişan holds a degree in Capital Markets Supervision and Rating from Kadir Has University and the CMB Advanced and Derivatives licenses.

Manager, Research

Özge Ongun Doğan serves as the Research Manager at Esas Portföy Yönetimi A.Ş.

Before joining Esas, she worked at Ak Asset Management as Assitant Portfolio Manager, where she managed commodity and global equities, pension funds, fund-of-fund portfolios.

Prior to that, between 2012 and 2022, she worked at İş Investment in the International Markets – Equities and Derivatives Department, where she was involved across various roles in global market brokerage, macroeconomic analysis, and market monitoring.

Özge Ongun Doğan holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Boğaziçi University. She holds the CMB Advanced and Derivatives licenses.

Assistant Portfolio Manager, Portfolio Management

Baran Turan serves as Assistant Portfolio Manager at Esas Portföy Yönetimi A.Ş.

He began his career in 2017 at Denizbank’s Treasury Division. Baran holds a degree in Finance from the Faculty of Management at Sabancı University.

Investment Advisor

Volkan Taş is an Investment Advisor at Esas Portföy Yönetimi A.Ş.

He began his career in 2014 at QNB Finansinvest in forex and international markets, and later worked in Private Banking at QNB Finansbank.

Volkan holds a degree in Economics from Adnan Menderes University and holds the CMB Advanced and Derivatives licenses.

Specialist, Marketing & Business Development

Arzum Özyiğit is a Specialist in the Marketing and Business Development team at Esas Portföy Yönetimi A.Ş.

She began her career in 2023 in the KYC department at Citibank.

Arzum holds a dual degree in Economics and Business from Istanbul Bilgi University and the London School of Economics.

Chairperson

Ali Sabancı is a Board Member at Pegasus Airlines and Vice Chairperson of MAC which are part of the Esas Private Equity portfolio. He also serves on the Board of Esas Properties.

He is also one of the co-founders of Esas Social, which was established to facilitate sustainable social investment. He focuses on increasing awareness of entrepreneurship in Turkey. As the president of the Young Entrepreneurs Board in the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) and a founding board member of GEN Turkiye (Global Entrepreneurship Network), he has led successful initiatives including Angel Investing Legislation, Global Entrepreneurship Congress, G3 Forum, Global Entrepreneurship Week and TIM Innovation Week – Born Global. He is also an angel investor in over 25 start-up companies.

Ali Sabancı, who is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Entrepreneurship Foundation and a member of the Turkish Family Business Association (TAİDER), was awarded the Légion d’Honneur by the French government in 2018 for his contributions to economic relations between Turkiye and France.

Ali Sabancı earned his M.B.A. degree with a major in International Finance from Columbia Business School and B.A. degree in Politics and Economics from Tufts University.

Board Member

Çağatay Özdoğru is the Group CEO of Esas Holding, responsible for all business lines including real estate, private equity, venture capital, social investment, and portfolio & wealth management, and serves on the investment committees of these divisions.

Prior to joining Esas in 2005, he served as Head of Information and Telecommunication Investments at Sabancı Holding. Before his role at Sabancı Holding, he held various positions within the France Telecom Group, lastly serving as Vice President responsible for the MEA (Middle East and Africa) region at Orange Business Services. He was also a member of the company’s Global Operations Committee.

In 2020, he was elected Chairman of the Turkey-France Business Council at DEİK (Foreign Economic Relations Board of Turkey). As of April 2022, he serves as a Board Member of TÜSİAD (Turkish Industry and Business Association). He has previously served as Chairman of the Turkey–Sweden and Turkey–Croatia Business Councils, and as a Board Member of TBV (Turkish Informatics Foundation) and TÜBİSAD (Turkish Informatics Industry Association). Between 2018 and 2019, he served as the President of Sigortamnet ITU Basketball, a team in the Turkish Basketball League.

Özdoğru holds a master’s degree in Electronics Engineering from The George Washington University, from which he received the Distinguished Alumni Award in 2016, and a bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering from Istanbul Technical University.

Board Member

Mustafa Tercan, CFO of Esas Holding, leads the finance team.

Mustafa Tercan, started his career in Deloitte, and later became a partner at the international audit company RSM Bentley Jennison, where he took part in mergers and acquisitions, post-merger integration, projects on increasing productivity and profitability and gave consultancy to many local and multinational companies and institutions. Mustafa Tercan has been a part of Yıldız Holding since 2010, respectively acting as the General Manager and Vice President of Financial Affairs and serving as Global CFO of Yıldız Holding for the last five years.

Mr. Tercan, a graduate of Ankara University, Department of Economics in 1996, is also a CPA (Certified Public Accountant).

Board Member & Portfolio Manager
